colored eggs

You don’t need to buy dye kits to add a pop of color to your hard boiled eggs for this year’s Easter table setting.  Natural dyes can be created using items that many of us already have in our kitchen!

The base for your recipe starts with 1 quart of water and 2 tablespoons of white vinegar. For color, add foods like chopped beets, bunches of spinach, blueberries, spices like saffron and turmeric, or even wine!

Combine all ingredients into a pot and bring to a boil.  Lower the heat and simmer for up to 30 minutes before straining the mixture into a bowl and cooling to room-temperature.

Soak eggs in each color or any combination of colors until the desired look is achieved.
